Sioux City, Iowa – Siouxland Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) cadets invite veterans, family members, and friends to two special events in recognition of Veterans Day.

Focused on the theme “Why We Fight,” the AFJROTC will host its 6th annual Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 1 pm on Friday, November 11 at Girls Inc., located at 500 Main St. in Sioux City. The ceremony will highlight why military members serve and include a presentation of service flags, a special flag folding, and a rifle ceremony. There will also be a special presentation from AFJROTC’s unarmed and armed exhibition teams. The West High School band and choir will perform.

Veterans, family members, and friends are invited to join AFJROTC cadets at noon for coffee and donuts courtesy of Jitters. Veterans are welcomed and encouraged to come in uniform.

On Saturday, November 12, the AFJROTC cadets will hold a 12-hour vigil at Floyd Monument in Sioux City. The cadets’ rendition of the tomb of the unknown soldier, the vigil will begin at 5 am and end at 5 pm with a remembrance ceremony. This year marks the 7th year the AFJROTC cadets have planned the vigil.
