SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Students at one of Sioux City’s smallest public schools are helping keep their fellow students fed.
Students at Sunnyside Elementary, which has just over 200 students, donated more than 7,400 items to East High School’s Food and Supply closet Tuesday, Dec. 7th.
The school’s student council led the supply drive over the past few weeks.
“It means a lot to me because I like donating to the people that need it and it helps all the people that need it,” said student Liam Noll. “And I also like Pizza.”
The Sunnyside class that collected the most items is being rewarded with a pizza party, but that wasn’t the only motivation for some of the students.
“It’s giving back to the community for people who need it more than we do,” said student Casey Towler.
Students from East High visited Sunnyside to collect the donations and say this will help make sure the food pantry will be well-stocked for the winter months.
