Sioux City, Iowa – The Sioux City Career Academy’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) made their presence known at the state HOSA competition at Drake University in Des Moines in early March. All 24 HOSA students from Sioux City placed in the top five for their respective events. Of those, 22 HOSA students placed among the top three finishers in their events and will advance to the international competition.
HOSA is a program for students interested in pursuing careers in health or biomedical science.

Additionally, Uziel Garcia received the Barbara James Service Award for completing more than 250 health-related volunteer hours. Students Sabin Noor and Paislie Tran were elected to serve on the 2024-2025 Executive Council as Vice President of Community Service and Secretary respectively.
