Support Services Are Available
The staff in our District cares about the mental health of our students. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, there is help available. Your school counselor is there to help, or you may also go to a local emergency room. The following number is the National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
District staff members are trained and ready to provide support. Through Youth Mental Health First Aid, a public education program, staff members are introduced to the unique risk factors and symptoms of mental health problems in adolescents. The training helps staff build an understanding of the importance of early intervention and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis.
Additionally, the District has partnered with local mental health agencies to offer school-based mental health therapy to students. Many insurance policies, including Medicaid, pay for school-based therapy, but some do not. For more information about how to access school-based mental health therapy, contact your school counselor or an administrator.
