The Gold Cone Safety Award allows staff in the Sioux City Community School District to create and promote awareness about the importance of workplace safety. Anyone is welcome to nominate a staff member who promotes a safe work environment.

Nominators must provide information to support the nomination by describing the individual’s achievements, contributions, or impact in workplace safety and health. Consider safety contributions in one or more of the following areas:

• Preventing an accident or injury

• Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace

• Always wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Seeking additional safety training

• Volunteers on the District's safety committee

• Follows safe workplace practices to avoid and eliminate slips, trips, and falls

• Asking a colleague to safely lift a heavy object

• Reporting an outdated emergency reference card

Every quarter, the District's safety committee will select nominees to receive the gold safety cone award. The recipients will receive a personalized gold cone as well as a shoutout in the District's safety newsletter.
