Our society is made up of responsible adults who find joy in their life, successfully support themselves financially, are able to problem solve and communicate well, and are active community members. Family and Consumer Science (FACS) empowers middle school and high school students to learn and practice life skills that will make them responsible adults.

Through FACS courses, students begin to plan for possible careers, develop practical skills for employment, financial literacy, and resource management, and learn about the art of positive communication. As high-level critical thinkers and leaders, students will learn to face personal, family, career, and community challenges as adults.

The FACS standards for grades 6-12 illustrate what your child will learn in middle school and high school. The FACS courses focus on key concepts in relationships, responsibilities, and nutrition as outlined in the middle school and high school FACS learning outcomes below.
