Coach Stephan Pearson was raised in Lauringburg, Scotland County, North Carolina, and graduated from Scotland High School, home of the Fighting Scots. A four sport student/athlete in high school, he participated in football, basketball, track and baseball. His high school career consist of All-Conference, All-Regional and All-State Honors in football and track. He also earned the honor of Scotland High School Male Athlete of the Year, 4A Track Conference MVP and Player of the Year and Southeastern Regional 4A Athlete of the Year Honors in North Carolina.
Coach Pearson’s education background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and a Minor in Business from Morningside University. A Master of Arts Degree in Management from Briar Cliff University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Dakota Wesleyan University. Collegiate student/athlete career consist of MVP and All-American honors in football and track. He currently holds several collegiate records at The Division II level and a 2024 nominee for the Morningside University Athletics Hall of Fame.
With a wealth of experience as a student/athlete and coach, Coach Pearson provides a positive, enthusiastic, supportive, trusting, focused, goal-oriented, knowledgeable, observant, respectful, patient and effective communication in his leadership. A thoughtful, collaborative leader and coach who can establish supportive partnerships with the school, students/athletes, parents, and the community while effectively addressing challenging student/athlete and community issues. He will approach problems and situations involving students/athletes with empathy and confidentiality. He is an influential student/athlete, coach and communicator with a proven record of success on every level and in every program he has been involved in.
His experience and knowledge enable him to bring a very inviting and enthusiastic presence to West High School and the Sioux City Community School District. While engaging with students/athletes at West High School and promoting West High School Pride and citizenship with a sense of community, Coach Pearson will enhance an inclusive experience which embraces the true meaning of WE ARE WEST!
