The Sioux City Public Library has received funding from the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF), a federal program to help schools and libraries address the gap for those who currently lack necessary internet access or the devices they need to connect to online resources. Funding from the ECF will allow the Sioux City Public Library to provide internet-enabled laptops, tablets, hotspots and 5G routers for extended checkouts to the residents of Sioux City.
The kickoff event for the Internet for All initiative will be held on January 6, 2023 at the Aalfs Downtown Library on 529 Pierce Street from 10am-1pm. Representatives will be on-hand for distribution and patron assistance.
Residents of Sioux City with a full-service Sioux City Public Library Card in good standing are eligible to check out free internet-enabled devices from the Library. To get a Library Card, visit any Sioux City Public Library location to receive an application or update your card. Please bring a photo ID. A list of acceptable ID verification can be found on our website at Siouxcitylibrary.org/services under “Get a Library Card.”
