North High School is proud to partner with the Sioux City Metro Swim Team to offer girls swimming. The Metro team consists of swimmers from eight different high schools around Siouxland, including Sioux City North, West, and East, Heelan, Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Hinton, Sioux Center, and Boyden Hull. The Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union sanctions our high school sports for girls. Through involvement in athletics, students learn valuable life skills, including teamwork, leadership, and commitment.
Head Coach: Molly Hegarty
Molly grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. She swam for The Mariners Swim Club then attended North High School where she was on the Metro Swim Team. Molly went on to swim for Morningside College. Her favorite events were the 200 free, 500 free, 1,000 free, and the 1650 free.
When Molly isn’t poolside, she can be found cheering on her son at his many sporting events.
Molly’s greatest joy is seeing athletes overcome obstacles, make amazing choices, take on responsibility, and learn life lessons. She loves witnessing athletes to become better individuals because of the self-discipline they learn through swimming.

Student-athletes give their all, both in and out of the pool. Countless hours go into strength, conditioning, and practice to build strong athletes who are prepared to compete. Likewise, our athletes fulfill academic requirements to participate in sports.
