More PJ Day peeps from our cozy theme day last week!

We had such Eagle fun this past Homecoming week. Looking forward to ending September SOARing strong!

Our staff launch Friday PDs with goal-aligned collaboration focused on the priorities guiding our work this year: 🦅 Strengthening the Morningside Eagle Way through increased SEL and Restorative Practices integration, CharacterStrong, and consistent building-wide SOAR expectations. 📚 Advancing reading proficiency through Benchmark Advance action-planning processes, tiered differentiation, and data-based decision making to respond to student needs. ➕ Continuing our building math focus through daily small groups, strong instructional practices, and data driven differentiated supports. Our Eagles continue to learn together, collaborate, and strengthen our system that supports every learner, every day!

2nd Grade Eagles putting their thinking on display using vertical whiteboard spaces during their math blocks! Students are working side-by-side to solve problems, share strategies, explain their thinking, and learn from one another. We love seeing our Eagles build problem-solving, critical-thinking, and collaboration skills while actively engaging in math together!

Last week, some of our 5th Grade Eagles were able to participate in a special learning lunch on Constitution Day, watching a program from Mount Vernon! We love opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom and help our Eagles build connections to history, citizenship, and the world around them. 🇺🇸📚 Way to SOAR, Eagles! 🦅

🎮 OR dress as your favorite video game character who knows how to POWER UP!

🍄⭐ Keep your eyes open… you may even spot Mario or Luigi running around Morningside!

Each day is filled with experiences to help our Eagles SOAR. Launching with Morning Meetings and doorway greetings, then on to Character Strong, literacy, math, and more - teacher led, or with partners in small and whole group via desk, circle or floor.

We are so excited our Eagles are back with us & continuing to build SOARing habits, learning stamina, & growing independence during whole group, small group, & independent learning time. This is how our Eagles develop ways they tackle challenges--on their own & then seek help.

Our 5th grade Eagles are getting in a groove with their math moves -- engaging in collaborative BFF partner conversations and jumping into place value review to check for understanding that matches just right needed modeling and practice.
