Special Education
The Sioux City Community School District is proud to provide a quality continuum of Special Education services. Our Special Education staff provides services starting in preschool and continuing through age 21 as determined by each individual students' IEP team. We collaborate with general education classroom instructors and support personnel, to create a positive learning environment for all of our students. Sioux City Schools works collaboratively with Northwest Area Education Agency to provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy to eligible students, as well.

Special Education Enrollment
- Sioux City Schools offers similar programming and services at each of our school buildings. The majority of our students with IEP's attend their neighborhood school. Students with more significant needs may attend a district program that is located in a separate location.
- As soon as you have found a home within the Sioux City School District, it is important to make contact with the principal in your neighborhood school. Once contact has been made we will assist you in a timely manner to determine the most appropriate service options for your child.
- All decisions regarding services and programming are made at the school level by the IEP team. You are a part of your child's team and have input into any decision.
