Linda Heffner Named District Teacher of the Year
Everett Elementary School third grade teacher Linda Heffner was named the Sioux City Community School District’s Teacher of the Year in a surprise ceremony in her classroom on May 15.
Linda has been a teacher for 24 years, all at Everett, where she has served as a teacher, mentor, confidante and advisor for her students. Those who nominated Linda stated that she was a life long learner who seeks out the best practices in education and does what it takes to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of her students. “Linda can be found after the last school bell in her classroom tutoring students, both past and present. She also makes a point to attend her past and present students’ activities during the evening and weekends. She is every student’s best advocate and cheerleader.”
