School Board Recognition Week

This week is designated as School Board Recognition Week. The theme this year is “Helping students reach new heights” and this is something the Sioux City Community School District’s School Board does. Our board consists of President Ron Jorgensen, Vice President Jim Daane, Doug Batcheller, Walt Johnson, John Meyers, Nancy Mounts, and Judy Peterson.
As citizen leaders, our school board members face complex and demanding challenges. Their job is to establish a vision for the education program, design a structure to achieve that vision, ensure schools are accountable to the community and strongly advocate continuous improvement in student learning. That job entails an endless string of meetings and school functions to attend; reams of reports, agendas, proposals and other information to read and study; and a host of difficult decisions to make.
Their love for learning, and concern and caring for students, staff and community, drives board members’ desire to lead so students can achieve.
The Sioux City Community School District would like to thank Ron, Jim, Doug, Walt, John, Nancy and Judy for their hard work, dedication and service to our students!
